Packaging and illustrations for L'Atelier du Vin at Carrefour: five wine tableware references, printed in several million copies for France and Brazil. An engraved line universe: vineyard maps, rows of vines, the gestures of service.

The context

In 2021, L'Atelier du Vin, a French house of wine objects founded in 1926, moved into Carrefour for a large loyalty-sticker operation: five entry-price references (wine glasses, champagne flutes, classic glasses, decanter and sommelier accessories) to introduce the brand to the general public. Commissioned as art director and illustrator, I designed all the packaging in the range, distributed across France and then South America, in several million copies.

Beauty can go through a hypermarket checkout too.

The illustrations

The whole graphic universe is hand-drawn, in Photoshop, on a tablet: maps of the wine regions, rows of vines, the gestures of service. An engraved line, white on a deep ground, printed in two colours (black plus one Pantone) to hold across millions of boxes without drifting. And designed to stay legible from two metres away in an aisle, while making you want to keep the box.

On the shelf

One euro for two glasses with the collectible stickers: the end-cap displays rotated through hypermarkets all over France, then as far as Brazil. Volume, fully embraced. Millions of boxes printed, a drawing that holds the stack at the end of the aisle, and a house born in 1926 meeting the Saturday shopping trolley.
